Our 2 day Paediatric First Aid course meets all Early Years Foundation Stage/Ofsted requirements. The course is suitable for people working with children under 8 years of age. Whether it is pre-school, reception or nursery years teachers, carers, people caring for children at home or in a different setting, this course will give the candidates the knowledge and skills to provide first aid to a child. This course includes free anaphylaxis training.
 
Structure:
 
The course consists of 12 hours (2 days) face to face training, where you will learn both the theoretical and the practical aspects of being a paediatric first aider. 
 
Course content:
 

· Role of a first aider, incident reporting and contents of first aid boxes

· Priorities of first aid and action planning in an emergency situation

· Basic Life Support (CPR and safe use of AED)

· Dealing with unresponsive casualties

· Bleeding and shock

· Fractures and spinal injuries

· Poisoning

· Epilepsy

· Burns

· Heart attack

· Secondary survey

· Head and chest injuries

· Asthma and diabetes

· Stroke

· Shock and anaphylaxis

· Choking

· Sprains and strains 

 

Duration:

2 days – 6 hours contact time each day, plus an additional one hours for breaks each day.
 
It is acceptable to run the course over a longer period, however, this should not be more than 7 weeks.
 
Assessment:
 
You will be assessed by the trainer verbally and through practical exercises.
 
Venue:
 
We have the flexibility to run any of our courses at your own venue and we have all necessary equipment  to provide high quality courses.
 
Certificates:
 
On successful completion of the course, all participants will receive a FAIB, nationally recognised Paediatric First Aid certificate, valid for 3 years. FAIB approval number 01/21(826). The certificates are acknowledged by the Department for Education and EYFS.

Duration:

The e-learning module will take up to 6 hours to complete; it is followed by a 6 hours face to face, practical session.
 

Assessment:

There will be a test at the end of the e-learning module. You will also be assessed by the trainer verbally and through practical exercises.

Certificates:

The course covers a broad list of conditions, incidents and illnesses and it will give the first aider the skills and confidence necessary in dealing with an emergency situation at work. Please note that the First Aid at Work (FAW) course cannot be combined with the Re-qualification course. (FAWR)
 
Structure:
 
First Aid at Work Course consists of 18 face-to-face hours. This includes the time for the final course assessment, but excludes the breaks. The course content is acknowledged by HSE, through First Aid Industry Body.

This Re-qualification course is intended for anyone who is holding an in date First Aid at Work qualification. Candidates can attend this course during the final 3 months of the 3 years certification period. In doing so, the new certificate will be issued from the expiry date of the 3 year in date certificate.

Structure:

A First Aid at Work re-qualification course consist of a total of 12 hours (excluding break time), distributed over 2 days, with a focus on the practical aspects of incident assessment and first aid treatment. 

Please note that the Re-qualification course (FAWR) cannot be combined with the First Aid at Work (FAW) course.

Family First Aid:

This comprehensive course has been created to give you the knowledge to help a baby, child or adult with both minor and major first aid incidents as well as giving advice on how to manage a range of common illnesses and conditions.

Duration: approximately 2-4 hours.

Access: this online course can be completed on any PC or mobile device; you can study at your own pace and log in and out as often as you wish.

Certificates: on completion of the course, candidates have the option to download a certificate, as proof that they have done the course.

First Aid for parents:

This engaging and interactive course has been created for parents, grandparents and anyone caring for babies and young children. It will give them the knowledge on how to respond promptly and effectively to any first aid incident or emergency, as well as giving advice on how to manage common childhood illnesses and conditions.

Duration: approximately 1-1.5 hours.

Access: this online course can be completed on any PC or mobile device; you can study at your own pace and log in and out as often as you wish.

Certificates: on completion of the course, candidates have the option to download a certificate, as proof that they have done the course.

Annual First Aid Update:

This course is ideal for workplace First Aiders who want to refresh their skills between  their course and requalifying three years later.

Duration: approximately 1-2 hours.

Certificates: on completion of the course, candidates have the option to download a certificate, as proof that they have done the course.
